SALEM — Salem Township Hospital has announced the hiring of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) following a lengthy search that started late last fall.
The hospital on Wednesday announced that James Timpe, MS, RT, has been hired to fill the CEO spot that was vacated in November of last year by the resignation of former CEO Alex Nazarian.
Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Lisa Ambuehl has been serving as the interim CEO since December, while the search for the new CEO was ongoing.
According to information released by Salem Township Hospital on Wednesday, Timpe will take over the CEO position effective Monday, June 3.
“Salem Township Hospital is committed to making this transition as seamless as possible and is looking forward to his leadership and experience, and welcomes him to this role,” states a press release from the hospital. “James recognizes the critical role that hospitals play to ensure the health and well-being of their local communities. Salem Township Hospital has several great services and providers to serve the community’s needs and is committed to give patients the quality care (that) they deserve.”
TImpe comes to Salem with 10 years of healthcare experience that includes time at another critical access hospital. His background includes a Master of Science from Northwestern University in Evanston.
He has healthcare leadership experience in operations, including in radiology, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, sleep lab and EEG.
Prior to coming to Salem, Timpe has spent the past five years serving in the CEO role at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
