Gary Moss

Gary Eugene Moss, 74, of Mount Vernon, died at 1:49 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Nature Trail Health Care in Mount Vernon.

He was born Sept. 28, 1949, in Christopher, to the late Edward Eugene and Wanda Lou (Peddicord) Moss.

Mr. Moss is survived by his siblings, Gale Edward Moss of Marion, Tonya Jean Meyers and husband, Ray of O’Fallon, Missouri, Tamara Mendenall of West Frankfort, and Beverly Roberson and significant other, James Skidmore of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, and uncles; and his nephew, Sean Roberson.

Mr. Moss was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His passion was the Lord. Mr. Moss was a gentle soul that would help anyone in need. His dream was to be a missionary, but his health would not allow him to do that. He loved gospel music and scripture, and always said, “God bless you” to everyone. He enjoyed going out for coffee at Hardee’s with his friends and loved art. Mr. Moss was a loving brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.

Mr. Moss will be cremated. There will be a graveside service held at 10:30 a.m. on June 27, 2024, at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, with Mr. Marty Mills officiating.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Moss’ honor to SSM Hospice.
