BLUFORD — Amiya Ray helped push Sandoval past Webber and into the Midland Trail Conference championship.
The Lady Blackhawks beat Webber 28-20 in Monday’s semifinal.
Amiya Ray led all scorers with 15 points and finished the game 7 of 15 from the field. Alayna Ray added five points for the Lady Blackhawks.
Chloe King finished with six points and 10 rebounds for Webber. Edyn Knight added six points and eight rebounds for the Lady Trojans. Webber finished the game 9 of 47 from the field.
A chunk of the scoring came in the opening quarter for both squads. Sandoval led 15-8 after the first break. Webber tied the game 8-8 midway through the quarter, but Sandoval finished strong.
The Lady Blackhawks capped the period with seven straight points. Maddie Starr hit a bucket. Amiya Ray later beat the first quarter buzzer with a halfcourt shot.
A pair of Webber starters — Maia Schultz and Laney Hails — both picked up their third personal foul early in the second quarter. Sandoval led by as much as eight points to start the period, but Webber closed the gap going into halftime.
The Lady Trojans trailed 19-13 after Allie Smith hit a shot late in the half. Sandoval still held a 20-16 lead going into the fourth.
The Lady Blackhawks pushed the margin to double digits with six straight points to start the final quarter. All the buckets came from Amiya Ray.
Webber dropped to 8-8 this season while Sandoval improved to 11-6. The Lady Blackhawks face Woodlawn in Wednesday’s championship game.
