Centralia Business and Professional Women recently presented monetary donations to various local groups from proceeds of the group’s Trivia Night fundraiser held in January. “Giving back to our community with volunteerism and monetary donations puts a smile on the face of every BPW member,” shared the group. Contributions were made to the Centralia High School Band, which has participated in many concerts, marched in parades and competitions bringing home lots of sought after trophies, hosted “Music In Our Schools” and will be marching in one of the Magic Kingdom’s parades in Orlando, Fla., later this year; Mission Centralia, which builds wheelchair ramps and handrails for people in need in the Centralia High School district; Home to School Connection, a resource for families that have students enrolled in Centralia City Schools ensuring needs are met for a successful school year; SAFE, a non-profit sexual assault center that provides free services to victims of sexual assault/abuse and their non offending family members by offering medical/legal advocacy, family, group and individual counseling and prevention education; Centralia Community Youth Center (CCYC), a resource and safe place for youth, offering after school tutoring, sports and various other programs; Carrie Leigh’s, which has a mission to provide children with free art programs at local festivals and other local locations; Centralia Regional Library, which offers many free programs for the community with activities for children and adults and also offers free WiFi at all times and hosts a Centralia Little Food Pantry; and New Horizon Christian School Robotics Club, which encourages students in grades five to eight to learn more about science technology, engineering and math and throughout their time in Robotics Club, members practice programming through block coding and build and program at least one autonomous robot using Lego Spike Prime technology.
