First Presbyterian Church in Centralia gathers for a 10 a.m. Sunday worship service. The church’s Pastor is Joannie Naraghi. Holy Communion will be served. Scripture readings will be from Psalm 97 and John 17:20-26 . Dr. Dee Boswell will serve as liturgist. Ushers will be Dan Conder, Vicky Conder, Becca Deomes and Stephanie Aarons-Dennison. Communion Servers will be Susie Francois, Tena Smith, Beth Loyd, Elaine Schlau, Linda Simmons and Jami Elmore. Special music will be the Chancel Choir and Diana Brink presenting “Sweet, Sweet Spirit,” Akers. Lashanda Brumfield and Tasha Aarons are nursery attendants.
Fellowship time begins at 9:15 a.m. and will be hosted by Betsey Cain and Elaine Schlau in honor and thanks for the church family and friends.
The Chancel Flowers will be given this week in celebration of Jami and Gary‘s 51st wedding anniversary by Jami and Gary Elmore.
Sunday school classes for all ages will begin at 9 a.m. Happiness and Light Adult Class will meet in the parlor, children’s Sunday school will meet in the School Room upstairs and junior and senior high school youth will meet downstairs in the Little Chapel.
The next Deacons Meal is set for this Sunday, June 1, with a menu of sloppy Joes, cole slaw, pork and beans, chips and desserts, with the mission for the meal set s the Little Free Food Pantry.
Upcoming events include Afternoon Circle at 1 p.m. June 2, Graduate Sunday on June 8, Father’s Day and CCBA Collection Sunday on June 15, Session meeting at 6 p.m. June 16 and the Kids Bell Choir will play and Deacons meet after worship on June 22.
The Wham Memorial Carillon plays concerts of faith daily at 9 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The Parkinson’s Support group is restarting for the first time since suspending meetings due to Covid and will meet at 2 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at Heritage Village in Centralia. These meetings are open to all who are affected by Parkinsons.
Choir rehearsal is held at 7 p.m. Thursdays in the parlor and anyone interested in participating is encouraged to attend.
Vacation Bible School will be held at First Christian Church from July 20 to 24. Dinner will be provided each evening by the Covenant Churches. First Presbyterian will serve pizza on Sunday night.

Elevator access is available on the south side of the church building.
Centralia First Presbyterian has a Free Little Food Pantry to the church grounds. Donations may be put directly in the Little Free Food Pantry or may be dropped off at the church. Donations from the community are encouraged and appreciated. Items needed are non-perishable food items, including peanut butter, crackers, canned ravioli, toiletries and any thing grab and go that is non perishable.
