Because there are more than 18,000 children in foster care in Illinois and 241 of them currently living in Jefferson, Hamilton and Wayne counties, Jordan Bird and Kirsten Malone presented a new program, The Restore Network, in an information booth Sunday, June 1 at Central Christian Church to encourage people to attend a free seminar on how to participate in helping to find families for the massive number of children needing permanent homes. The conference, A Night of Pushing Back the Darkness, will be featured at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, in the Rolland W. Lewis Building of Veterans Park in Mount Vernon. There are numerous ways to assist other than adopting a child.
