In the temporary world that we are passing through like fading flowers, we will face trials and tribulations of various kinds that is without question. The question is how will we handle them? Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Matthew 16:33. “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” First John 5:4-5.
When I played basketball and we got hurt our coach John Finigan would say, “Walk it off.” When I had covid my doctor Mary Piper called and told me, “keep on moving.”—when we as followers of Jesus, face trials and tribulations of various kinds, lost loved ones, broken hearts, rejections, failures of others and those of ourselves, we do not lay down and quit. We lay our hurts and burdens down at the foot of the cross of Jesus, who bears our burdens and strengthens us. We must keep on moving onward and upward to our promised land where Jesus is preparing a place for us. We pick up our crosses and keep on walking and moving in the way and the truth in the life of Jesus! For Jesus said to His disciples, “Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me.” Matthew 16:24.
When this world saddens and depresses us by the sins and lawlessness of this world and the loss of loved ones, we must keep on moving through the heartbreaks and storms of this world carrying forth our Lord’s love and kindness. For we are traveling on a higher holy ground led by our Great Shepherd to a new heaven and earth where righteousness dwells and loved ones are reunited. There we will meet Jesus our Great Shepherd, who guided us through this life, bore our transgressions and died in our place, for the wages of our sins. We will see Jesus our Great Shepherd face to face in all His glory and hear His words, well done my good and faithful servants enter into your master’s glory and embrace those you have carried in your hearts through your earthly journey.
