The Kaskaskia College Music Department presented “Vox Aminals: Music of the Animal Kingdom” for its Fall Combined Concert on Tuesday evening at the Jane Knight Auditorium on the main KC campus.
The evening’s program featured the KC Instrumental Ensemble and Concert Choir, both led by Dr. Paul Cody, conductor. The groups performed “The Muppet Show Theme” by Jim Henson and Sam Pottle, arranged by Paul Murtha, “The Pink Panther” by Henry Mancini, arranged by Mark Taylor, with Aidan Varel on mellophone, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” arranged by Kirby Shaw, “Good King Kong” by P.D.Q. Bach, “Sumer is icumen in,” anonymous, “Mousetail Shuffle” by Jack Stamp, “Blackbird” by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and arranged by Daryl Runswick with Grace Hummel on piccolo, “El Grillo” by Josquin Des Prez and “Le Carnaval des animaux” by Camille Saint-Saens and arranged by by Cody Alexander Paul.
The Concert Choir includes Grace Hummel, Haley Fender and Karleigh Twitchell, sopranos; Hannah DeLao and Andolini Gray, altos; and Seth Henderson and Aidan Varel, bass.
The Instrumental Ensemble consists of Hayden Biggs, percussion; Hannah DeLao, piano; Jessica Godwin, trumpet; Grace Hummel, flute; Brendan Pokojski, saxophone; Aidan Varel, horn; and Emma Warner, flute.
