CENTRALIA — The Centralia Chamber of Commerce is preparing for an influx of ribbon cuttings scheduled for the end of the year that will celebrate the opening and expansion of multiple Centralia businesses.
Just last week, the Centralia Chamber hosted a ribbon-cutting for the reopening of the Centralia House restaurant that had been closed for the past two years. The restaurant was opened under new management, and since its reopening has been reportedly very busy.
“We were busy as we could be,” Shannon Cooney, operator of the Centralia House, told the Sentinel, “There were some people who had to wait a little bit, but overall it went very good. We are also fully booked this weekend, but there are some openings still for next weekend.”
In addition to the Centralia House, a new gaming establishment and restaurant called Dagos, which is located at 1159 North Poplar, is also celebrating its opening on Thursday (today) at 11 a.m. Immediately following on Friday at 11 a.m., there will be a ribbon cutting at Jacks-Lets Play located at 140 North Commercial Street.
Next week on Tuesday, another restaurant will be celebrating its opening with the Chamber. Simplysoul, which started its journey as a food truck, will be celebrating its new restaurant located at 548 North Poplar.
Later next week, on Friday, November 21, at 4 p.m., Colden Brewery will celebrate the opening of its downtown location at 117 East Broadway.
According to the Centralia Chamber Director, Marcus Holland, they usually average about two ribbon cuttings a month, but in the next two months, there will be at least half a dozen. He says, despite the economy, Centralia still seems to be progressing.
“It’s just so the timing of everything with the progress and people opening business and the progress of downtown,” Holland told the Sentinel. “I feel like there’s still some inflation that people are feeling, whether it’s tariffs or the economy overall, so businesses are trying to adjust so they can be successful but I haven’t heard any major complaints that people are struggling.”
According to Holland, there is already one ribbon cutting scheduled in December on the 5th that will celebrate the opening of Lily Ann’s Floral Design, located at 303 East Broadway. In addition, there are several others just around the corner that are yet to be scheduled, including for the new Byrd Watson location and for new apartments in downtown Centralia located above both the Green Grill Building and the Winery Block.
