To the Editor:
The year of 2025 is our 16th consecutive year for the Fred Pearson Foundation Fundraiser.
Last year, all 30 of Fred’s donors proudly raised $1,770, making our 15-year grand total $31,679. Every dollar donated has gone toward keeping our kids learning, growing and thriving. Centralia’s generosity has fueled programs for kids who are behind in academics as well as the needed sports programs. These programs give kids the tools they need to catch up and promote their self esteem.
Your gifts continue to sustain vital summer sports activities including girls traveling softball and boys traveling baseball teams. These self-supporting programs provide not only exercise but teamwork, discipline competition and the great fun these sports create.
I know all of us strongly support our kids in our great town of Centralia. The growth of youth continues to be one of the most important investments we can make. It is truly my honor to call you my friends and partners in the Annual Fred Pearson Foundation Fundraiser.
Anyone wishing to be a part of this great fundraiser may send a check only (no cash) made out to the Fred Pearson Foundation and mailed to Jimmy Branon at 1670 Woods Lane, Centralia, IL 62801.
Justin Knolhoff and Bill Sessions, former Centralia High School Orphan sports stars, will again insure our money gets to the kids. These two men loved Fred Pearson more than you will ever know and they continue to be co-presidents of the Fred Pearson Foundation.
I personally will never forget Fred Pearson. His love and dedication to the kids of Centralia will never be topped by anyone. Fred was a very special man and I loved him so much for the opportunities he gave all of us kids. It will always be our honor to support the youth.
