INA — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a trespassing incident, with shots fired, that occurred at around 9:44 p.m. on Jan. 12 in the 15100 block of East Tilton Road in Ina.
According to JCSO incident logs, a male suspect tried to break into someone’s house at that location. The suspect, who was possibly armed with a machete, then fled from the house and one of the residents fired three shots at the fleeing individual.
It is unclear if the suspect was hit by any of the bullets. The Mount Vernon Police Department responded with their drone to help search the area but the suspect was not located, incident logs state.
“The suspect was not located and the investigation is continuing,” said Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard. “We ask anyone with information on this case to contact our Detective Division or Crimestoppers.”
