Immanuel United Church of Christ in Carlyle gathers for a 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.
This Sunday, Pastor Ken Schafer will be turning to the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 4, as Matthew tells of the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, shared the church. Jesus had been baptized-anointed for ministry, endured the testing of Satan in the wilderness and then learns of the arrest and imprisonment of John-the-Baptist by Herod. All these things prepared Jesus to proclaim the Kingdom of God through repentance, turning away from the temptations of the world, to a focus on pleasing God. To do this, Jesus proclaims to be the “Light” that leads to this path of righteousness through His Words and actions. All are invited to hear more of the pastor’s message, “Following the Light” at the 10 a.m. worship service at the church, located at 1970 Clinton St. in Carlyle. We will also have a special message for the children attending before they are excused for children’s church. The service is also available le on the church’s Facebook page. Services and activities are open to the community.
Bible study on the “Parables of Jesus” meets at 9 a.m. Sunday and will be focusing on “The Good Samaritan.”
Immanuel UCC Annual Meeting will be held after the worship service this Sunday, Jan. 25.
Bible study at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday is learning about God’s plan of salvation in the book of Genesis.
