Immanuel United Church of Christ in Carlyle will gather for a 10 a.m. Sunday worship service.
What makes you happy? As Jesus walked the earth, he knew of the distress that many people carried with them. He came to tell us of a better way of life in that happiness only comes by pursuing the Kingdom of God, shared the church. Pastor Ken Schafer at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Carlyle will be turning to Matthew 5 as Jesus sits down with his disciples to teach them about God’s Kingdom by teaching them that true happiness can be found by following 8 principles of His Kingdom, which we call the Beatitudes. Some say that these principles are the “Constitution” that govern, or are the “rules” of God’s Kingdom that we should abide by. Why are these important for us to know and apply as we walk with God? Pastor will tell of the importance that Jesus places on righteousness and mercy in adapting these rules to our lives in the message, “Good Life Rules.” All are invited to join in the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service at the church, located at 1970 Clinton St. in Carlyle (weather permitting). The message will also be available on the church’s Facebook page. This Sunday, Feb. 1, Holy Communion will be celebrated.
Bible study meets at 9 a.m. Sunday and will focus on the “Parables of Jesus.”
Bible study in Genesis is held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. “Come join us for discussion and fellowship,” shared the membership.
