A trio of Jefferson County boys basketball teams were well represented on this year’s Midland Trail All-Conference team.
Waltonville, Woodlawn and Webber were each consistently ranked among the top teams throughout the season. Each school at least advanced to a 1A regional final with the Spartans going to the Sweet 16.
Nathaniel Marlow’s historic season was honored as the Webber senior claimed the Player of the Year honor. He scored more than 3,000 career points and finished second all time in the state behind Charles Vaughn of Tamms.
Waltonville’s Anthony Lowery was named Coach of the Year. The Spartans won a regional championship and beat Hardin County in the sectional semifinals before losing to eventual state runner-up Goreville. The Spartans ended the year with a 29-6 record.
Waltonville’s Gage Peterson, Jagger Mayville and Witten Devor were all first team selections. Waylon Jones and Jacob Marlow joined Nathaniel on the first team for Webber. Kyle Cooper and Luke McKay of Woodlawn were also picked for the first team.
Other first-team picks were: James Walker (Wayne City), Hagen Howard (Cisne), Zach Dagg (Cisne), Jake Hosman (Grayville), Lincoln Roberts (Patoka-Odin) and Ozzy Ash (Red Hill).
Ryley Stewart (Waltonville), Tyson Frick (Woodlawn) and Baylor Rollie (Woodlawn) highlighted the honorable mention picks along with Ian Kleinschmidt (Grayville), Marcus Davis (Red Hill) and Josh Gordan (Sandoval).
