FUNDRAISING AGREEMENT — The Rend Lake College Board of Trustees Tuesday approved a fundraising agreement between the college and the RLC Foundation related to The Game Plan Capital Campaign.
INA — The Rend Lake College Board of Trustees Tuesday approved a fundraising agreement between the college and the RLC Foundation related to The Game Plan Capital Campaign.
“The Game Plan” is the Rend Lake College Foundation’s fundraising effort aimed at adding to and renovating the existing athletic facilities on the RLC campus. More specifically, it has fueled the ongoing renovation at the Banterra Sports Complex at RLC.
The foundation launched this campaign in 2023. In August of that year, RLC announced a new 10-year naming-rights agreement with Banterra Bank, through which RLC’s newly renovated sports complex will be named after Banterra, Sentinel archives state.
Once the renovations are complete, the Banterra Sports Complex will house Waugh Gymnasium where the Warriors basketball and volleyball teams play. Although the Waugh Gymnasium will remain, the sports complex facility that houses the gym will be much improved with a new entrance, new locker rooms, new office space, a new foyer and more. In addition, Deaconess Illinois made a sizable donation to allow for a newly renovated athletic training room at the Banterra Sports Complex, the archives state. New bleachers are also part of the plan.
According to an RLC news release, the fundraising agreement approved Tuesday clarifies the expectation of the RLC Foundation in regard to fundraising goals, naming rights within the gym facility and outlines the payment schedule for The Game Plan Capital Campaign. Prior to Tuesday’s RLC Board meeting, the foundation approved the agreement at its Aug. 7 Board of Directors meeting.
“The college and our foundation have a great working relationship, and we’ve teamed up as part of The Game Plan Campaign to support the renovations and addition to the Banterra Sports Complex on campus,” said Cathy DeJarnette, Executive Director of Administrative Services at RLC. “The agreement simply sets out the logistics and expectations of how the funds are raised and paid, and addresses how naming rights can be handled going forward. We anticipate the project to be finished by the end of this year, and we are really looking forward to the community being able to visit and enjoy this renovated space.”
Also on Tuesday, the RLC Board approved the college’s fiscal year 2026 budget, effective Aug. 12. A tentative version of the budget was approved last month and was then laid over to be available for public inspection for 30 days. A public hearing was held on the budget just prior to Tuesday’s RLC Board meeting.
The spending plan has not changed since the tentative version was approved last month. The budget currently shows a modest surplus of roughly $96,000.
