INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Charles Lee (Chuck) Roethemeyer, 68, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Sunday, March 12, 2023, with family and friends by his side.
He was born in Centralia on Jan. 5, 1955, the son of the late Raymond and Lula Roethemeyer of Hoyleton, Illinois. He married Patricia Voelkel of Nashville, Illinois, and they later divorced. He then married Dawn (Andrews) Roethemeyer, and she preceded him in death.
Chuck is survived by his daughter Haley Roethemeyer of Indianapolis, son Jesse Roethemeyer of Phoenix, Arizona and son John Paul of New York; three siblings, Larry (Karlyne) Roethmeyer, Connie (Darrel) Holle, Linda (Mike) York, all of Hoyleton, brother-in-law Larry Fark of Centralia; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a multitude of friends, all of whom will miss Chuck greatly.
Chuck was preceded in death by his wife Dawn, his parents Ray and Lula Roethemeyer, sister Jean Fark and nephew Tony Rinne.
Chuck always had a smile on his face and never knew a stranger. He worked in his early days for the railroad and was a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service. Chuck was an antique and vintage car enthusiast. After moving to Phoenix, Arizona, he was hired at a vintage car dealership selling and repairing vintage cars, which was his passion. Several years ago, after moving to Indianapolis to live with his daughter, Chuck applied for and got a job as a member of the support staff at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, helping fans of the Speedway to navigate the grounds and help make their experience a memorable one. He truly loved his job there, which allowed him to co-mingle with team drivers, mechanics, fans and team owners. He was a natural friend with everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Per Chuck’s wishes, cremation will be performed and, as of now, no celebration of life is planned.
